The newest member of the Team

It’s been an unique year so far for everyone, and as such we haven’t had a proper chance to say hello to our newest teammate Lorna, who joined us in February as an Administrator.

In most cases it will be Lorna who replies to emails from the contact@ inbox, and in normal circumstances it would be Lorna who you would  speak to if you called the office.

I joined the Scottish Cot Death Trust at the end of February and since then it has been a baptism of fire, learning a new job amid all the challenges of the corona-virus pandemic and working from home after only 3 weeks.  Fortunately, my initial impressions of a close knit, friendly and helpful team have proved to be the case.  For a small charity it does an awful lot and its work is so important.

So far I have enjoyed the interesting and varied nature of the work.  One of my roles is to provide a link between clients and support workers.  An important part is sending out apnoea monitors to expectant mothers for their new arrival.  I know from the feedback we receive that these go a long way to reducing anxiety.  I will usually be the first person people will speak to when they phone the Trust, sometimes in very difficult circumstances.  It’s about being there to listen to others, so I would encourage anyone who needs help to get in touch – we will always be able to offer a sympathetic ear.

I have already found working for the Trust to be a rewarding experience.  I am getting to grips with the role and find it satisfying being able to help others at a difficult time.

Our team are continuing to work from home, so the best way to contact us is by emailing, this inbox is checked from 9am-4pm, Monday to Friday.
