Orkney man raises over £2.5k in memory of his daughter

Graham Nicholson took on the epic challenge of walking around South Ronaldsay

Shannon Agnes Margaret Nicholson was born on 8 March 2001, but sadly died in December that year, at just 9 months old.

Her Dad, Graham, decided to walk over 30 miles in one day, on Father’s Day, to commemorate his daughter in the year that she would have turned 20.

Graham, his daughter Devon, and friend Willie took 18 hours to complete the 36 mile trek.

They were joined by different friends and family along the way, including Graham’s son, Campbell.

Graham’s wife, Norma, met the group every couple of hours to keep them fuelled with food and drink.

Robertson’s Coffehoose and Bar, who also provided the Scottish Cot Death Trust with a voucher to include in our Orkney Package raffle prize last year, supplied the group with pizza at the end of their challenge.

They surpassed their initial target of £500 in a few hours and raised the phenomenal sum of £2592 in total. What an incredible achievement and lovely tribute to Shannon.

We would like to thank everyone involved with making Graham’s challenge a huge success.
