14 month old Joseph Shevlin raises £2330!

Joseph and his family walked around Carfin Grotto on 1st August 2020, his Mum Jillian tells us why..

My husband, Patrick, and I first contacted the SCDT in early 2019 whilst I was expecting our first child, Joseph. Due to our family history, we wanted to find out more about safe sleeping and the baby breathing monitors.

Patrick and I have a very unique set of circumstances, wherein both our families have been affected greatly by cot death. My own mum and dad lost my big brother Mark at 12 weeks old and my mother and father in law also lost a baby daughter to cot death.

Over the years we have held numerous charity nights, a balloon release and taken part in a skydive to raise money to help the SCDT with their fabulous work and research.

After receiving our Snuza monitor and getting excellent support from the trust, we decided we wanted to do something to give back to the charity. We signed Joseph up for a Welly Waddle in Carfin Grotto. He raised £2320 and had his waddle featured on the Sancta Familia page on social media, with over 13,000 views.

Patrick and I are incredibly proud to support the excellent work and research of the SCDT and hopefully Joseph will be able to pull his wellies on again in the future to raise more vital funds.

What an incredible amount to have raised for your first fundraiser Joseph – AMAZING! Thank you from everyone at SCDT.
